About Us

Hi, we are Drs. Vernon & Sharlene Smith, husband and wife, founders and managing partners for SVS Training and Consultancy, LLC. We are very excited that you have found our website and we hope you would be inspired and motivated to work with us. We have more than 40 years of combined experience in higher education, and training and development. Our goal is to inspire growth and development by helping individuals and organizations achieve their personal and professional goals through training and development, and consultancy.

Dr. Vernon Smith

Along with my wife, we are the Founders and Managing Partners of SVS Training and Consultancy, LLC. I am a tenured professor, entrepreneur, and scholar with 24 years of higher education experience. I am a sought-after speaker, trainer and facilitator on the topics of leadership and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongings (DEI&B). I teach courses centered around social justice advocacy in educational counseling. My clinical experience includes over (18) eighteen years of counseling in collegiate, high school, and private practice settings. In addition, I have leadership experiences in student affairs having served as the Director of Counseling and Health Services and the Director of Housing and Residential Life. I am also the Founder and Director of the Empowering Young Black Men mentorship program that seeks to empower young Black men to achieve academic goals and complete high school and pursue higher education.

I have an earned Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, a Post Master’s Leadership in Higher Education Graduate Certificate and a Post Master’s Program Evaluation Graduate Certificate from the University of South Florida; Master’s of Science in Family and Child Studies, Specialization: Marriage and Family Therapy from Northern Illinois University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Judson University.

I am passionate about training and development in social justice, and equity in education, and my goal is to inspire growth and development in this area for individuals and organizations.

Dr. Sharlene Smith

Along with my husband, we are the Founders and Managing Partners of SVS Training and Consultancy, LLC. I am an entrepreneur, adjunct professor, scholar, special educator, behavior analyst and autism consultant with 23 years of higher education experience. I am also an operational director for a university post-secondary inclusive program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, I am a trainer and facilitator that provide training on autism and teach college courses on teaching students with ASD, parent and employee training.

For the past 10 years, I have been supporting individuals with special needs and intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In addition, my personal lived experiences, having a son with autism propelled me to advocate for support services for individuals with disability and pursue a career in the field.

I have an earned Ph.D. in Adult Education and Autism Spectrum Disorder from the University of South Florida; Master of Arts degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Development; and two Graduate Certificates in Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Leadership in Developing Human Resources from the University of South Florida; a Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from Monmouth University in New Jersey; and a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Management from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.
